# A-Share Data in Dots
 Dots is OpenAI’s always-on agent. It uses the user’s own ChatGPT connectors; add our remote MCP as a ChatGPT plugin and Dots can query A-share data.

## Dots has no separate MCP settings
 There is no standalone MCP configuration inside Dots. Add a custom MCP server/plugin in **ChatGPT** first, then let Dots use apps connected to that ChatGPT account.

## Before you start

 The user’s own ChatGPT plan with Dots and custom MCP/plugin access

 An ashareapi API key; use a separate read-only key

 Verify the key: `GET /v1/quote?code=sh600519`

## Add the MCP in ChatGPT

 Open ChatGPT **Plugins / Connectors**

 Choose **Add custom MCP server**

 Enter `https://api.ashareapi.com/mcp`

 Set `Authorization: Bearer `, or complete the auth flow shown

 Install/enable the plugin

 If the page only supports OAuth and cannot set a custom header, use the URL fallback: `https://api.ashareapi.com/mcp?key= `. Prefer headers when available.

 Open Dots, confirm the MCP plugin is available under its connected apps, then ask.

## FAQ
 Can Dots configure MCP by itself?
 No. Dots uses apps/plugins connected to the user’s ChatGPT account; add the custom MCP in ChatGPT first.

 Does the developer need a ChatGPT subscription?
 No. The developer only provides the MCP endpoint; the user brings their own ChatGPT account.

 Bearer or Query Key?
 Prefer a Bearer header in ChatGPT’s custom MCP setup. Use `?key=` only when the client cannot set headers.

 Why is there no custom MCP entry?
 Usually a plan or admin restriction; use a supported plan or ask an admin to enable custom MCP/plugins.
