HK stock data

HK stock data: from Hang Seng constituents to southbound holdings

HK research has a longer chain than A-shares: first the universe (Hang Seng / HSCEI / Hang Seng TECH constituents), then fundamentals and what analysts think, and finally the money — who is buying (southbound) and who is shorting. These 22 entry points cover the whole chain.

In one sentence

HK data = index universe (constituents/quotes) + per-stock fundamentals (financials / shareholders / dividends) + analyst view (ratings / target price / consensus) + money (southbound holdings / short selling / money flow). Drop any one leg and the conclusion does not hold.

Pick the entry point by the question

No need to force one endpoint — 22 entries are available; these four cover the common cases:

"What is in the Hang Seng / TECH index?"
/v1/index-constituent · /v1/index-list · /v1/screen?market=hk
Hang Seng / HSCEI / Hang Seng TECH constituents (20 each); a list of 1,223 indices; HK rankings and screening
"How is this company doing?"
/v1/finance · /v1/shareholder · /v1/dividend · /v1/profile
Financial statements, shareholders, dividends, company profile
"What do analysts think?"
Average / max / min target price + rating distribution (45 buy / 2 hold / 1 sell) + analyst count; forward EPS / revenue / profit
"Where is the money going?"
Main vs retail net buy/sell; quarterly southbound holdings and ratio; daily short-selling ratio

⇒ Also: /v1/quote · /v1/kline · /v1/minute · /v1/technical (55 indicators) · /v1/news · /v1/notice · /v1/calendar · /v1/ipo · /v1/search · /v1/suspension · /v1/disclosure · /v1/buyback.

22 entry points by purpose

HK-capable endpoints (minimum tier in parentheses):

Quotes
/v1/quote · /v1/kline · /v1/minute · /v1/technical
⚠️ HK K-lines do not accept date ranges — use count
Fundamentals
/v1/finance · /v1/profile · /v1/shareholder · /v1/dividend
Statement periods and field conventions follow the response
Analyst view
/v1/rating (HK/US only) · /v1/consensus
⚠️ HK consensus has no target price, only *Forecast columns
Money / short
⚠️ short selling requires date; southbound is quarterly
Events
/v1/calendar · /v1/disclosure · /v1/ipo · /v1/suspension
HK event density is far higher than A-shares (measured 151 rows for one ticker)
Indices
⚠️ HK constituents use Chinese keys (代码/名称/涨跌幅/成交额)
Screening
/v1/screen?market=hk
⚠️ HK/US PE field is PeTTM (case-sensitive)
Corporate actions / news
/v1/buyback · /v1/news · /v1/notice · /v1/search
Buybacks: HK returns per-day detail, A-shares return an event summary

Four examples you can run now

/v1/quote and /v1/kline are free without a key; the rest need Standard or Pro. HK codes are 5 digits: hk00700.

# 1) Hang Seng TECH constituents (20 names)
curl "https://api.ashareapi.com/v1/index-constituent?code=hkHSTECH&key=$KEY"

# 2) Analyst ratings: target price and distribution
curl "https://api.ashareapi.com/v1/rating?codes=hk00700&key=$KEY"

# 3) Short selling (⚠️ date is required)
curl "https://api.ashareapi.com/v1/fund-short?code=hk00700&date=2026-10-15&key=$KEY"

# 4) Southbound holdings (quarterly)
curl "https://api.ashareapi.com/v1/fund-south?codes=hk00700&key=$KEY"

⚠️ HK financial fields differ from A-shares — do not parse them with A-share column names. HK consensus has no targetPrice, only forecast columns.

An agent can work from this page alone

Once wired as MCP tools, an agent can answer these directly:

"What is in Hang Seng TECH?"
ashare_index_constituent(code="hkHSTECH")
One index per call
"What is the target price?"
ashare_rating(codes="hk00700")
Target is targetPriceAvg, 49 analysts
"How much of Tencent is shorted?"
ashare_fund_short(code="hk00700", date="2026-10-15")
⚠️ without date only identifier fields
"How much does southbound hold?"
ashare_fund_south(codes="hk00700")
Quarterly; ratio is 持有比例(%)
"Is main money buying today?"
ashare_fund_flow(code="hk00700")
MainNetFlow is in HKD
"When do they report?"
ashare_disclosure(codes="hk00700")
⚠️ HK date often sits in disclosureDesc

⚠️ Four rules for agents: (1) HK codes are 5 digits (hk00700); (2) /v1/fund cannot query HK (A-share composite) — use /v1/fund-flow; (3) /v1/chip, /v1/sector, /v1/hot, /v1/lhb do not support HK; (4) /v1/rating accepts HK/US only — A-shares return 422.

Boundaries up front (7 items)

These are data limitations, not unfinished endpoints:

No chip distribution for HK

/v1/chip covers Shanghai/Shenzhen A-shares only. There is no substitute for HK cost-basis data.

HK K-lines take no date range

Only count (last N bars); start/end are A-share only.

The A-share "Stock Connect holdings" endpoint does not apply

/v1/fund is the A-share composite (LHB / block / margin) and returns 422 for HK — use fund-flow / fund-south / fund-short.

Short selling needs a date

Without it, and before publication, only code/name/EndDate/ClosePrice come back.

HK consensus has no target price

/v1/consensus returns forecast columns for HK (epsForecast / netProfitForecast / …) with targetPrice as null. Use /v1/rating for targets.

HK index constituents use Chinese keys

A-share indices return code/name/IndexName; HK returns 代码/名称/涨跌幅/成交额 — do not reuse one parser for both.

No full history for HK K-lines

Capped at 1,212 bars; /v1/kline-full only covers A-shares.

FAQ

How do I write an HK code?

5 digits with hk prefix: Tencent hk00700, Meituan hk03690. A-shares use 6 digits (sh600519); use /v1/search if unsure.

Can I query several HK stocks at once?

For money-side endpoints yes: /v1/fund-south, /v1/rating, /v1/consensus accept comma lists. But /v1/index-constituent takes one index per call (comma returns empty).

Why does the PE field fail for HK?

HK/US use PeTTM (case-sensitive); A-shares use PE_TTM — relevant when calling /v1/screen?market=hk.

Is HK data available on the free tier?

/v1/quote, /v1/kline, /v1/hot work without a key for HK quotes. Financials, ratings, money flow and indices need Standard (¥29.9) or Pro (¥99).

Is "money flow = 0 before open" a data gap?

No. Some money-flow fields are zero pre-market and recover during the session.

Try it with one HK stock

/v1/quote and /v1/kline are free without a key; ratings, money flow and constituents need a paid tier.
