US stock data

US stock data: from the three indices down to one ticker

US research usually starts with the index backdrop (Dow / NASDAQ / S&P 500), then moves to the financials of one name and what analysts think, and finally to the short side — when prices fall, the short ratio says more than the P/E. These 16 entry points cover that chain.

In one sentence

US data = index backdrop (three indices) + per-stock fundamentals (financials / dividends / profile) + analyst view (ratings / target price) + short side (short ratio). ⚠️ The US does not have shareholder detail, an events calendar, buybacks, consensus estimates, or per-stock money flow — those are coverage limits, not broken endpoints.

Pick the entry point by the question

Sixteen entries are available; these four cover the common cases:

"Where is the market?"
Dow usDJI 52,867.98 · NASDAQ usIXIC 26,008.86 · S&P 500 usINX 7,663.43 (⚠️ indices are daily only)
"How is this company doing?"
Financial statements, dividends, company profile
"What do analysts think?"
Average / max / min target price + rating distribution + analyst count (measured 17 rows for usAAPL)
"What is the short side doing?"
Short ratio, days to cover, shares shorted (measured usAAPL: 0.83% / 2.82 days / 121m shares)

⇒ Also: /v1/minute · /v1/technical (55 indicators) · /v1/ipo · /v1/search · /v1/news · /v1/notice · /v1/disclosure · /v1/suspension · /v1/screen?market=us.

Five examples you can run now

/v1/quote and /v1/kline are free without a key; financials, ratings and short data need a paid tier. US codes are us + uppercase: usAAPL.

# 1) Three indices
curl "https://api.ashareapi.com/v1/quote?code=usDJI,usIXIC,usINX"

# 2) S&P 500 daily bars (⚠️ indices are daily only)
curl "https://api.ashareapi.com/v1/kline?code=usINX&period=day&count=20"

# 3) Analyst ratings
curl "https://api.ashareapi.com/v1/rating?codes=usAAPL&key=$KEY"

# 4) Short selling (⚠️ date required)
curl "https://api.ashareapi.com/v1/fund-short?code=usAAPL&date=2026-09-30&key=$KEY"

# 5) Screening (⚠️ use PeTTM)
curl "https://api.ashareapi.com/v1/screen?market=us&mode=condition&expr=intersect([PeTTM > 0])&key=$KEY"

⚠️ Two traps: (1) the S&P 500 code is usINX (not usSPX); (2) US screening uses PeTTM (case-sensitive — PE_TTM fails).

An agent can work from this page alone

Once wired as MCP tools, an agent can answer these directly:

"Where are the Dow / NASDAQ / S&P?"
ashare_quote(code="usDJI,usIXIC,usINX")
S&P 500 is usINX, not usSPX
"Apple target price?"
ashare_rating(codes="usAAPL")
Target is targetPriceAvg
"How much of Apple is shorted?"
ashare_fund_short(code="usAAPL", date="2026-09-30")
⚠️ without date only identifier fields
"Apple financials"
ashare_finance(code="usAAPL")
Field conventions differ from A-shares
"When do they report?"
ashare_disclosure(codes="usAAPL")
Earnings disclosure date
"Screen for low-PE US stocks"
ashare_screen(market="us", expr="intersect([PeTTM > 0])")
⚠️ must use PeTTM

⚠️ Three rules for agents: (1) US codes are us + uppercase (usAAPL); (2) use /v1/search to confirm codes; (3) the US has no shareholder detail / events calendar / buybacks / consensus / per-stock money flow — those endpoints return empty.

Boundaries up front (6 items)

US coverage is narrower than A-shares; these are limits, not bugs:

No shareholder detail

/v1/shareholder covers A-shares and HK only — no top holders or institutional positions for US names.

No events calendar

/v1/calendar (dividends / lock-ups / meetings) covers A-shares and HK only; use disclosure for US earnings dates.

No buybacks, no consensus

/v1/buyback and /v1/consensus cover A-shares and HK only. For US targets and estimates use /v1/rating.

No per-stock money flow

/v1/fund-flow covers A-shares and HK only. On the US side only the short leg exists (/v1/fund-short).

No US index constituents

/v1/index-constituent covers A-share and HK indices (Hang Seng / HSCEI / TECH); there is no S&P constituent list.

No date ranges for US K-lines

Use count for the last N daily bars — same limit as HK.

FAQ

How do I write a US code?

us + uppercase letters: Apple usAAPL, Tesla usTSLA. Different from HK (5 digits, hk00700) and A-shares (6 digits, sh600519). Use /v1/search if unsure.

Why can I not find the S&P 500?

The code is usINX, not usSPX (measured 7,663.43). usSPX / usGSPC / usSPX500 all return nothing.

Is money flow available for US stocks?

Only short selling (/v1/fund-short: short ratio, days to cover, shares shorted). There is no main/retail money-flow endpoint.

Can I run factor screening on US stocks?

Yes — /v1/screen?market=us works (measured), but the expression field is PeTTM (not PE_TTM), and it is case-sensitive.

Is US data available free?

/v1/quote and /v1/kline are free (including the three indices); financials, ratings, short data and screening need Standard (¥29.9) or Pro (¥99).

Start with the three indices

/v1/quote and /v1/kline are free without a key — query the Dow, NASDAQ and S&P 500 directly.
